Clerk of Superior Court in Maricopa County

The Clerk of Superior Court maintains all civil case files for Maricopa County. The main office sits at 620 West Jackson Street in Phoenix. Three regional court centers serve Mesa, Surprise, and north Phoenix. All four sites handle civil filings and provide public access to records.

Maricopa County Justice Courts

Twenty six Justice Court precincts serve different parts of Maricopa County. Each precinct has jurisdiction over civil cases up to ten thousand dollars and small claims up to five thousand dollars. Justice Courts also handle all eviction cases in the county. You must file in the precinct where the defendant lives or where the property is located for eviction cases.

Maricopa County Civil Court Fees

Superior Court fees in Maricopa County went into effect on December 28, 2024. Copies cost fifty cents per page. Certification adds thirty five dollars per document. Electronic copies on CD or DVD cost thirty five dollars per case. Research fees are thirty five dollars per year if you need the clerk to search for a case.

Filing a civil case in Superior Court costs three hundred sixty seven dollars for a complaint. An answer or initial appearance costs two hundred sixty three dollars. Injunctions against harassment have no filing fee in Maricopa County. Postage and handling adds eight dollars to mail orders.

Payment options include cash, money order, or debit and credit cards at the courthouse. Visa, MasterCard, American Express, and Discover are all accepted. Online payments can use eCheck with no extra fee. Personal checks are not accepted in Maricopa County Superior Court.
